Aquarium and pet shop around the world thrive thanks to a multitude of pandemic animal lovers – CBS Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Many people have taken advantage of the pandemic to bring an animal into their lives. At the World Wide Aquarium and Pet Shop, however, the selection isn’t limited to those with fur and four legs.

The Roxborough business is full of pets, from scaly and slimy animals to those who love terrariums and treats. For more than 20 years, it has been the dynamic crossroads of animal lovers.

“I’ve always loved animals, but I never thought I would be so involved with them,” owner Jeffrey Ruder told CBS3 with a laugh.

Ruder was shocked at the number of people who decided to have pets during the pandemic, even going so far as to dry up some of their inventory.

“The whole country ran out of aquariums,” he said. “For four or five months, we couldn’t get aquariums.

Fortunately, activity hasn’t slowed down, which means people are still interested in the fish, lizards and snakes that World Wide Aquarium and Pet Shop has to offer as the pandemic continues.
