Free pet adoption event in Illinois this weekend

Full cages and near-capacity numbers are currently a problem at animal shelters across the country, and Rockford-area shelters are no exception.

With kitten season on the rise and pets becoming loose during outdoor activities, Winnebago County Animal Services in Rockford desperately needs to empty their cages so they can help more animals in need. . Plus, all of the animals currently in these cages deserve loving homes!

Whenever you adopt a pet from an animal shelter, you usually have to pay a small fee which helps to continue to care for the animals staying there. But, this Friday and Saturday only, Winnebago County Animal Services is hosting a special adoption event with one big goal in mind, emptying each of their cages!

Which pets qualify for free adoptions at Winnebago County Animal Services?

During this special Clear The Shelters event, ALL pets 6 months and older will have their adoption fees waived! You can adopt an adult dog, a cat and even a guinea pig for free this Friday and Saturday only!

Tips for adopting your new best friend

Winnebago County Animal Services’ Clear The Shelters event can offer adoptions at no cost, but as always, interested adopters must complete an adoption application and have it approved before they can bring their new pet home. I strongly suggest that you begin this process now at winnebagoanimals.org so you’ll have first access to choose your pet when the event officially begins on Friday!
