Live animal adoption helps animals find safe homes

TRENTONOn Saturday, Stanley Subaru in Trenton partnered with the Hancock County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for the “Subaru Loves Pets” initiative to help animals in need find new homes.

“We have a very loyal pet customer base with Subaru owners and with dogs. That goes hand in hand with the SPCA,” said Stanley Subaru General Manager Kevin Townsend.

The Hancock County SPCA reportedly helps 1,200 pets be adopted each year through live adoptions and numerous community programs.

Defective members credit community efforts with placing animals in need into safer environments.

“It just strengthens the whole community. None of us want to see animals suffer. Having a shelter like this in place to support and help our animal population means everything,” said Samantha Thorsen, Development Officer for the SPCA Hancock County.

Organizers explain how the live adoption event sparks connections and community engagement all around.

“It brings so much more compassion and empathy and enriches everyone’s life to have that experience,” Thorsen said.

“I couldn’t be happier doing this,” Townsend said.
