Madison County Animal Shelter Hosts Pet Adoption Event

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Madison County Animal Shelter continues its efforts to help puppies find their forever homes.

In partnership with the Tractor Supply store in Richmond, the shelter held an adoption event on Saturday.

The animal shelter has open adoptions, but said parents of potential dogs should meet the pup first because the shelter wants to make sure these dogs get a second chance at a good home.

Director of Animal Care and Control Katie Banks spoke about their dog population and background while holding one of the puppies up for adoption.

“So most of our population is unfortunately wandering. Most of them, we don’t really know their background. They are found wandering. This particular guy was apparently found on the side of the road in Waco. Him and three of his siblings,” Banks said.

The shelter plans more adoption events in October and has regular viewing hours Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. as well as the second Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
