Ohio Animal Shelters Participate in “Empty the Shelters” Pet Adoption Campaign

A national summer campaign aims to help people with pet adoption costs. Bissell’s “Empty the Shelter” campaign offers reduced adoption fees at participating facilities. Participating Ohio shelters include: Toledo Humane Society Animal Friends Humane Society Ashtabula County Animal Protective League Humane Society of Greater Dayton Cincinnati Animal CARE Human Society Louis’s Legacy Animal Rescue BISSELL Pet Foundation is feeling the burden of overcrowding. With euthanasia of homeless dogs up 22% in the first quarter of 2022 alone, we knew we had to act fast to help at-risk pets,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “Empty the Shelters” is the largest funded adoption event in the country. Participating Ohio shelters include:

  • Human Society of Toledo
  • Animal Friends Humane Society Ashtabula County Animal Protective League
  • Greater Dayton Humane Society
  • Cincinnati Animal CARE Human Society
  • Louis Legacy Animal Rescue

The summer event has been extended through July 31 and includes 250 shelters in 42 states.
