Pet adoption, fostering resources during the coronavirus crisis

Many organizations support foster families and adoptions. Among them: A great place to start in the process, with answers to common questions and lists of shelters based on your location.

LA Animal Services (City of Los Angeles): Currently needs assistance with medium to large dogs and adult cats. Visit the website for lists of new animals.

Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA: maintaining waiting lists in a context of high demand. For more information, visit the website or email [email protected] for hosting options.

SpcaLA: Offer adoptions by appointment. Also accepting deposit donations Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 9-10 am at the South Bay spcaLA Pet Adoption Center, 12910 Yukon Ave., Hawthorne; spcaLA Pitchford Companion Animal Village & Education Center, 7700 E. Spring St., Long Beach.

Project Little Angels: The Agoura Hills Rescue Organization is currently placing cats and maintaining a waiting list for dogs.

Kitten Rescue: The organization is “inundated” with requests for information about intake and adoption. Also takes care of the dogs on occasion.

CatCafe Lounge: The shop is closed for quarantine reasons, but still places cats in the rescue group it partners with, Stray Cat Alliance.

Project Watts: Takes animals from shelters in Watts and South Los Angeles and arranges for placement and adoption.
