Twin-Cities Pet Adoption Center Gets Additional Resources From Local Car Dealership

NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD / WYZZ) – Staff at the Humane Society of Central Illinois were greeted with a donation of just over $ 3,000 Thursday afternoon from Subaru of Bloomington-Normal.

“We partner with Subaru as a manufacturer, and through the dealership, through our employees and our customers. Vehicle purchases, and when customers come to have their vehicles repaired with us, we allocate part of those funds and we collect them throughout the year, then we come and we give the money to the shelter, ”a said Jose Chavez. , executive director of the dealership.

Shelter manager Jane Kahman said donations and support from volunteers are essential in helping them take care of the animals.

“We don’t get any money from the government, so we’re really supported on a donation basis,” Kahman said.

She said the funds help support the needs of the animals they care for.

“Most of it is spent caring for our animals, sterilizing them, vaccinating them, microchipping them and getting them ready for their permanent home,” Kahman said.

Chavez said presenting the check and then walking through the shelter felt like a good feeling.

“Seeing how your money is used to bring these pets to people, it’s a really warm feeling as you walk inside,” said Chavez.
